All across the country, the second wave of Covid-19 infections is causing enormous hardship to people. Lakhs of people have been affected, and every day, more than thousands of lives are being lost. Although there was plenty of time available since the onset of the pandemic, the Indian Government has failed to control the spread of Covid-19.
Prime Minister Modi is morally responsible for the loss of several thousand lives because of his utterly inept handling of this public health crisis. VCK calls upon PM Modi to take responsibility for the failure of his government and resign immediately. The scale of devastation caused by this second wave greatly exceeds that of the first wave.
In the interim period, vaccines have been discovered to fight the virus, and India leads the world in vaccine production. If vaccines made in India were administered to the people in a proper and timely manner, such a massive loss of lives could have been averted. However, without any care about the people of India, Modi was paying more attention in exporting Indian vaccines to foreign countries and in his election rallies.
Even today, as the number of new Covid-19 infections raise into the lakhs, he continues his election campaign in West Bengal. State Governments are unable to take any independent decision, and they are finding their hands tied. Even if state governments had been allowed to directly procure vaccines, the scale of damage could have been restricted.
The PMGKP insurance scheme, created to provide insurance coverage to healthcare providers including doctors and community health workers, has also been stopped by the Modi Government since 24 March 2021. This is another example which proves the extent to which the Modi Government does not care about people’s lives. Prime Minister Modi does not have any long-term vision in handling the Covid-19 pandemic.
This was first witnessed in his disastrous decision last year to impose a sudden lockdown without any intimation, warning or preparations whatsoever. If Mr Modi continues as the Prime Minister of India, it will further endanger the lives of the Indian people.
His disregard for the people’s lives has already caused enormous loss of lives, a public healthcare emergency and a financial emergency. Hence, Modi must accept moral responsibility for the healthcare emergency that India is facing. We demand his immediate resignation.

இந்தியா முழுவதும் கொரோனா கொடுந்தொற்றின் இரண்டாவது அலை கடுமையாக மக்களை தாக்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. இலட்சக் கணக்கானோர் இதனால் பாதிப்புக்கு ஆளாகி இருக்கின்றனர். ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான உயிர்கள் பலியாகிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.
போதுமான கால அவகாசம் இருந்தும் கொரோனாவைக் கட்டுப்படுத்தத் தவறியதோடு பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான உயிர் இழப்புகளுக்கும் காரணமாகியிருக்கும் பிரதமர் மோதி இந்த நிலைக்குத் தார்மீகப் பொறுப்பேற்று தனது பதவியை விட்டு விலக வேண்டும் என்று விடுதலைச் சிறுத்தைகள் கட்சியின் சார்பில் வலியுறுத்துகிறோம்.
கொரோனா கொடுந்தொற்று முதல் அலையைவிட தற்போது பாதிப்பு அதிக அளவில் உள்ளது. இதனிடையில் தடுப்பூசி கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டு அதன் உற்பத்தியில் உலகிலேயே இந்தியா முதலிடம் வகித்து வருகிறது. இங்கு தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட தடுப்பூசிகளை மக்களுக்கு முறையாகப் போட்டிருந்தால் இந்த அளவுக்குப் பாதிப்பு ஏற்பட்டு இருக்காது. மாறாக தடுப்பூசிகளை அயல்நாடுகளுக்கு ஏற்றுமதி செய்ததோடு இந்திய நாட்டு மக்களின் பாதுகாப்பைப் பற்றி எவ்வித கவலையும் இல்லாமல் தேர்தல் பரப்புரையில் ஈடுபடுவதிலேயே மோதி கவனமாக இருந்தார்.
ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் இலட்சக்கணக்கில் கொரோனா தொற்றுகள் கண்டறியப்படும் இந்தச் சூழலிலும் கூட மேற்குவங்கத்தில் தேர்தல் பிரச்சாரம் செய்து வருகிறார்.மாநில அரசுகள் சுயேச்சையாக எந்த முடிவையும் எடுக்க முடியாமல் அவர்களது கைகள் கட்டப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன. மாநில அரசுகள் தடுப்பூசிகளை நேரடியாகக் கொள்முதல் செய்துகொள்ள அனுமதிக்கப் பட்டிருந்தால் இவ்வளவு பாதிப்பு ஏற்பட்டிருக்காது. தடுப்பு பணியில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ள மருத்துவர்கள் மற்றும் சுகாதாரப் பணியாளர்களுக்கென உருவாக்கப்பட்ட ‘பிஎம்ஜிகேபி’ இன்சூரன்ஸ் திட்டத்தையும் மோதி அரசு கடந்த மாரச் 24 ஆம் தேதியோடு நிறுத்திவிட்டது.
மோதி அரசு எந்த அளவுக்கு மக்களின் உயிர்கள் மீது அக்கறை இல்லாமல் இருக்கிறது என்பதற்கு இதுவும் ஒரு சான்றாகும்.கொரோனாவைக் எதிர்கொள்வதில் எந்தவொரு தொலைநோக்குப் பார்வையும் பிரதமர் மோதிக்கு இல்லை என்பதற்கு கடந்த ஆண்டு எந்த முன்னறிவிப்பும் இல்லாமல் அவர் எடுத்த ‘லாக்டவுன்’ முடிவு ஒரு சான்றாகும்.
மக்களின் உயிர்மீது எவ்வித அக்கறையும் இல்லாமல் நாட்டைக் கடுமையான சுகாதார மற்றும் பொருளாதார நெருக்கடிக்கு ஆளாக்கி இருக்கும் மோதி அவர்கள் பிரதமர் பதவியில் நீடிப்பது இன்னும் பேராபத்தையே கொண்டுவரும். எனவே, தற்போது நாட்டில் நிலவும் சுகாதார நெருக்கடி நிலைக்குத் தார்மீகப் பொறுப்பேற்று உடனடியாக அவர் தனது பதவியிலிருந்து விலக முன்வரவேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்தி கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறோம்.
