Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Anurag Singh Thakur felicitated Paralympics Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Mariyyapan T and his coach Raja B in New Delhi today.
Speaking on the occasion Sh. Thakur said, “Mariyyapan has made the country proud with his performance in Rio and now in Tokyo. I congratulate him and take this occasion to congratulate all our para athletes for their fantastic performance.”
Speaking to the Sports Minister Mariyyapan said, “I had expected to win a gold for India but due to the weather conditions on the day of the event, I could not fulfill that dream. I am confident that in Paris I will win a gold for the country again.”
டோக்கியோவில் நடைபெற்றுவரும் பாராலிம்பிக்ஸ் 2020 போட்டிகளில் வெள்ளிப் பதக்கம் வென்ற தமிழகத்தைச் சேர்ந்த டி. மாரியப்பன் மற்றும் அவரது பயிற்சியாளர் பி. ராஜாவிற்கு மத்திய இளைஞர் விவகாரங்கள் மற்றும் விளையாட்டு அமைச்சர் அனுராக் சிங் தாக்கூர் புதுதில்லியில் இன்று பாராட்டு தெரிவித்தார்.
இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியின்போது பேசிய அமைச்சர், “ரியோ மற்றும் தற்போது டோக்கியோவில் தனது சிறப்பான செயல்திறனின் வாயிலாக மாரியப்பன், நாட்டிற்கு பெருமை சேர்த்துள்ளார். அவருக்கு எனது வாழ்த்துகளைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்வதுடன், மிகச் சிறப்பாக விளையாடிய நமது அனைத்து பாரா தடகள வீரர்களுக்கும் இந்தத் தருணத்தில் வாழ்த்து தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்”, என்று கூறினார்.
அமைச்சரிடம் பேசிய மாரியப்பன், “இந்தியாவிற்கு தங்கப்பதக்கம் பெற்றுத் தர வேண்டும் என்று எதிர்நோக்கியிருந்தேன். ஆனால் போட்டியின் போது அங்கு நிலவிய வானிலை காரணமாக அந்தக் கனவை என்னால் நிறைவேற்ற முடியவில்லை. பாரிசில் நடைபெறும் போட்டியில் நாட்டிற்காக நிச்சயம் தங்கம் வெல்வேன் என்று நம்புகிறேன்”, என்று கூறினார்.
